Diligence

Figured I'd check in... again. Like I said, can't check the board at most of the outstations here in Afghanistan.

I may not be coming back in May and it may still be June, just wanted to give that update. I'm trying hard to find out my relief status but meh... no one seems to know, so although against my pessimistic nature I thought I was coming back in May like many were saying, without confirmation.... It's June. We'll see.

In either case, look forward to seeing ya'll in 1 1/2 or 2 1/2 months or whatnot.

Trying FC... alas, it was not meant to be yet.

My relief isn't due until late July, I'm getting a temp but still not leaving until 7 June, in the states around the 10th, home around the 24th or so. At least I have a new computer waitng for me to get home, I can try on my shitty one when I hit the states though and see if it will support EQ (if it will stay on long enough to work right). I just have to figure out how to get class info again on chanters, ie.. spells and the like. The Runes is bust, looks like it died in 2006. That was the best chanter site I knew. Starting to remember how hard it will be to get up to par with ya'll but guess the key will be to get my 10 levels and worry about the spells 80-85 the most? Are they buyable through runes and the like?

When we come back after an extended period, do we come back with all our gear and coin? I think I left broke but will fix that shortly.

Still looking forward to seeing ya'll in a month-month and a half. 22 days left in this shithole... 25 days til Taco Bell! And, ummmm... enough alcohol to forget 7 months.

rk 1's are bought off vendors found in various zones throughout the expansion according to lvl
rk 2's are dropped off mobs and can be found in bazaar if lucky and certain spells can be bought by raising factions OR completing certain raids
rk 3's are obtained by looting runes that drop off the bosses

Just google station launcher and download it. It will download EQ for you.

Hmmm... looking at it but not seeing what I was hoping to see, doing it that way will make me purchase it for every computer I have I take it? Was hoping for the boxed version so that I can put it on different computers, especially since the one I'm on sucks and I have one waiting at home for me that's brand new. Once you pay for it can you download it again or just have to pay each time you want to? This computer has the chance of crashing.

If you purchased the expansion, you should be able to down load it on to all of your computers using the usernames and passwords that you have for all of your accounts, From what I've seen in the past, even if purchase some of the expansions, you download them all but can't use them all if you haven't purchased them. This of course may have changed over the years.

Downloaded the launcher as recommended.

I'll be back, just working on it.

Wonder if I can replace my motherboard on this damn laptop... then once they reactive my character I can play all weekend. Hmmmm... new computer waiting at home to play with too, just no idea when I get to head home instead of this cesspit... erm, lovely place of North Carolina.

5 hours of downloading... gah. I'll check and see about a motherboard in the morning.

Account is activated, download is done... but won't let me in.

Launcher first time still put me to the test server.
Now just closes out when I try to run it after checking for updates.
It shows my characters at the launcher screen.
Tried switching versions but only shows the test server.

Any ideas?

If you have Windows Vista go to your EQ file and check to make sure your TestEverQuest.exe file is not being run as administrator, and your EverQuest.exe file is running as administrator. A while back I had trouble when I tried logging onto the test server when I had both checked to run as administrator at the same time.

If that don't work, I have nfc.

I am running Vista, that sounds like a viable reason for sure...

Well, that was part of the issue. Now it gets to launching the game after updating and just... disappears. Doesn't load the server screen or anything, just says that it's launching. But after it closes, it's still listed under processes on the task manager, just not applications.

I even deleted the test file to make sure that it's not that issue but it's still in the recycling bin.

I'm thinking I may also not have it switched properly, how do I get station launcher to stop using the test server, I think what I did didn't do it.

Try some of the things listed here, as you can see, that's the exact same problem I had. I used to use EQ's sign in to play, then went to station launchpad in hopes that would fix the problem, but it didn't.

I don't know how to change testserver.exe to not being administer. Another problem that may be forseeable is that... I deleted EQ in full, reinstalled it and same problem, so neither one should be set as administer. There shouldn't be different launchpads for testserver and everquest.exe is there?

Getting to the point I'll just worry about it when I get home and get on my new computer. If somehow the problems persist with that computer then it's a sign......

that I will just take it in to a computer shop and have them get me in EQ.

Oh wow... now my folder doesn't even have everquest.exe

edit: Now I do, ran Escape to Norath from desktop (properties stated was everquest.exe) patching more... we'll see. Remind me to never quit EQ again /sigh... maybe I better download every game I can ever think I may play on the next computer right away.

I have the Station Launcher and Escape to Norrath on the desktop now. I've been having the problems trying to enter from station launcher but everything I've read seems to say that is what I should be using to log-in...?

Hmmm... so running the escape to norrath downloaded stuff, then didn't load up the game, just kicked out to desktop, leaving eqgame.exe as a process. So... trying station launcher, it's downloading more (think I did this a few times and each time I ran between the two, they patched each time so guessing they download different files).

God damn it...!!! Well, back to step 1, well 1.25, your post helped me with understanding how to set run as admin with the capatability. It still kicks me out to the server, and at least now I understand how the switching between servers works.

I yield... going to try calling the service line tomorrow, if can't get that straight then will just wait til I get home Friday or however long they keep me here... is too bad, the whole weekend could've played... sucks.

Thanks for trying to help Shartra. What did end up curing your logon problem? Was it just the permissions?
